1940 Top Handle Pill Box Purse/ Vintage Torri of Tokyo Handbag/ Art Deco Fashion Accessory

Black velvet pill box purse, embellished with hand beading and metallic gold thread in a floral pattern. The pattern is on the top, the front, and also the back. The black velvet handle is flexible + not structured, and attached to both sides through gold tone rings.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a lining of black taffeta, with small pockets sewn onto both the back side and the front side of the purse. The interior of the hinged lid is mirrored.

The label reads "Torii" on the front, and "Tokyo" on the back of the label; a top designer during the post WWI period, and the bag dates to the 1940's.

The overall condition is very very good; however there liner on the interior under the mirror looks to have been glued back in place.
